BUSINESS GUIDE

AI insurance checklist for a first specialist conversation

You do not need to select a policy before asking for help. Start with a clear description of what your business does, what AI can do, and who relies on the result.

Describe the activity before naming the coverage

An accounting firm using an internal drafting assistant and a software company selling an autonomous agent have different conversations to prepare for. Write two sentences: what the company provides, and what AI changes in that activity. Include whether the system is internal, customer facing, or part of a physical product.

Keep the first summary high level. Do not paste customer records, passwords, health information or confidential contracts into a marketplace request.

Gather six useful facts

  1. Your operating state and the states where customers or projects are located.
  2. Who uses the AI output and what happens if it is wrong.
  3. Whether the system handles private data or can change accounts, place orders or move money.
  4. Where a person approves consequential actions and how the system can be stopped.
  5. Existing business policies, renewal dates and the professional who services them.
  6. Customer promises, vendor dependencies and any known incident, summarized without private documents.

Bring questions that reveal gaps

Ask the licensed professional which activities the insurer understands to be insured services, which events could trigger a claim, and which exclusions or endorsements change that answer. Ask how contracts, subcontractors and model providers affect the review. A business buying AI tools should explain how employees use them; a builder should explain what customers are purchasing.

NIST offers a voluntary framework for describing and managing AI risk. It is useful context for a conversation, rather than proof of insurance eligibility or coverage.

What happens after a LunarQuote request

LunarQuote saves your request. A connection depends on verified licensing, product appetite, capacity and your sharing consent. Matching may be temporarily unavailable while the partner network is being verified. Creating a profile does not produce a quote or bind coverage.

If your business has an urgent renewal or active claim, contact your existing licensed professional directly. Use the marketplace as an additional starting point, and ask the professional to review the actual forms before any insurance decision.

Primary sources

Sources provide general context. The checklists and examples are LunarQuote educational material. An insurer reference does not imply a LunarQuote partnership, appointment or endorsement.

General educational information, not insurance or legal advice. LunarQuote does not sell, recommend or bind insurance. Licensed professionals review actual products, facts and policy terms.

A clear next step

Save a high-level profile. A specialist connection depends on verified availability and your consent.
